I've been on the run ever since the Great Vienna sausage incident of '98, keeping a low profile to make sure no one can find me. No Cell Phone, no email, nothing! ...but then I found this game, this DAMNED GAME! The groovy jam of the item shop song, the smooth mechanics the artistically tasteful nipples. This game has it all so much so that I felt compelled to break my rule and created an email/itch.io account to write this review (this was my undoing). They've found me. I hear the sound of can openers outside my door and the smell of cheap processed wieners is starting to fill the air. My time is almost up. At least I get to go out playing the best game jam game there is to offer.
ur ranking was ok. check out my spreadsheet linked below the video for some feedback. if you would like more coverage i am making another video for subscriber games only. so far i only have 1 subscriber who is a game dev so rankings would be a lot less competitive and i would spend longer on each game.
I liked this a lot and would love to see it expanded out in the future. I think I beat it in three rounds while taking two hits, so it left me wanting a bigger and longer challenge.
Didn't realize that a deck-builder and bullet-hell game would work so well! Had a lot of fun and thoroughly enjoyed it, only wish it was longer, or there was another boss! (didn't really have time to explore all the upgrades before the boss got defeated)
Would be cool to see this in a larger setting with maybe an FTL-style exploration where you travel to different locations, fight bosses and collect energy!
Violet Ace is brings me back to the classic bullet hell dodging games of old. Gorj scales nicely and the variety of shop weapons and abilities make it a blast. Plus youve got a killer retro soundtrack to hype you up before you go back in. I also have heard circulating rumors around the programming ecosystem that the creators and artistic designers of this triple A title are devilishly handsome. Only rumors though but something that Violet Ace players should be cognisant about.
i like the back and forth between boss battle and deck building. the potion definitely saved me. background particles are a little too similar to bullets.

also i found a bug where i stacked a bunch of armor and bought a potion and then i took no future damage from all boss bullets made victory taste bad.
You actually just found the “Easy Mode”… jk
I’ll fix it after the jam rating period ends. Armor was already OP to begin with.
